A summary of the journey

Our week after finishing, and thank you for all those who helped make our trip special.

The final run through to the end

Woohoo finally made it to Bluff and the end of our journey over the length of the country.

The muddy Longwood forest. Our last forest and hilly section.

The forests and farms from Otago and into Southland. Nearly there, only six walking days remaining now.

Back in the South Island again

More challenging hills through the Motatapu section. Stunning high country scenery and into the towns

Over Mt Martha saddle and Breast Hill to Lake Hawea and Lake Wanaka. Some very hard and challenging days but worth it for the views.

The stunning lakes and canals of Tekapo Pukaki and Ohau along with Mt Cook

Back into the south island mountains. Climbing up to the highest point on Te Araroa at 1925m and alongside the stunning Lake Tekapo.

The 42 Traverse and Tongariro crossing with an impending weather bomb due. We’ve hit the 2000km milestone with only 1000km remaining

The land is dry and the days are hot. Going over Mt Pirongia and along the timber trail.

A lot more road walking and a fun productive and social rest day in Taumarunui

Into Te Kuiti and then four days on the Timber Trail

Waikato back country farmland, forests and mountains. And an end to the run of hot sunny cloudless days.
